Finding The True Value Of Twitter

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

For a long time I’ve been avoiding the Twitter phenomenon. That is, until recently. A fellow associate of mine encouraged me to join and even explored some of the reasons why I hadn’t done so. I simply told him that I didn’t understand the need to Tweet and the real purpose of using Twitter. With some convincing, I signed up for an account.

After learning how to use Twitter by opening an account, and then adopting the use of tools that would allow me to make more out of my Twitter experience, I’m finding a number of different aspects valuable to my everyday activities, hobbies, and social relationships.

With so many varied interests, its always been a real challenge for me to find like minded individuals who are in to so many of the same things that I am. Twitter has solved this problem for me. Not only can you find others who share similar interests or vocations, but you can follow posts made around a given subject area or topic. This is a good indication of what’s being discussed across millions of users. Not only do you have access to individuals sharing the same interests you have, but also celebrities. I never really thought that I would care to have access to what one celeb or another was doing, but it definitely makes people seem more approachable. I’ve also sent and received Tweets from celebrities, bringing into reality the fact that they’re human too.

When you find a community of individuals who share your interests, concerns, and are willing to have a discussion around them, it enriches your experience. This is especially true as I have built a small following of people within my area of interest. When I have a question or topic that needs discussion, this group is always willing to share what they know and comment on my messages, also called tweets. When users respond to one of my messages, pushing it out to their followers, it is called re-tweeting.

The greatest benefit of connecting with other with whom you chose is that you can filter the information and respond when the mood strikes. By using applications that allow you to prioritize Tweets or search for specific conversations, you can quickly see benefit in the information that’s being shared. Often times, individuals include links to valuable content and information that they have come across on the web. This is both useful and time consuming when related to a particular need you may have.

I resisted social media at first for a variety of reasons. Now that I have some experience with a tool like Twitter, I believe that I fully understand my initial hesitation. The reason why I didn’t use it initially was because I didn’t see the point. What I didn’t realize was that the only way to get the point of using Twitter was to first use it. Now that I have, I understand and appreciate the value it delivers.

Why Social Media Platforms Are Valuable For PR And Product Awareness

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Public relations is important to increase the awareness of a business and its products or services and bring in more potential buyers for a product or service. In the past these campaigns have been a very public affair, held in person at a set locations or by using newspapers and other kinds of media. Social media is incorporated into PR plans because of the fact that more people are turning to the internet to find what they need and because a search can be done for local businesses.

There are social websites online that make a business’s PR efforts much easier through the use of social media to develop a lead and targeted contact list for potential buyers and supporters. It is easy to miss out on reaching potential customers with traditional marketing methods, whereas with social media marketing you have the capacity of reaching thousands more people in a shorter time scale.

With social media sites, you can communicate with people who are interested in the item you have to offer and by sending messages that are related to the prospects interests and your business. Another important benefit is that people can give you their opinion about things and help you to improve what you are offering in the marketplace. Discovering what the customer actually wants from your business or campaign is definitely attainable when using social media, and because of the interaction between you and the media users, customer loyalty and referrals are very likely to occur. How To Make Money By Using Twitter Marketing?

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

The rise of the internet was phenomenal from the time it reached the public eye in the 1990s until now. With the rise of the internet, a change in the way we use marketing went along. New methods emerge almost monthly.

It is crucial for an online marketer to know which trend to follow and which not. This decision alone can decide whether a company will be a success or failure.

So what is the current trend in online marketing? It appears as if Twitter media marketing is gaining more and more popularity. Reasons for that are easy to find: It is free of charge, allows you to target a pretty specific audience and takes a short time to set up.

Let me start with the basics. What is twitter actually about?

Twitter is a site that people can go to in order to find out the latest trends about their friends, stars or business. In Web 2.0 language that is called social networking. Twitter is based on micro blogs that consist out of text messages. Due to that each and every message is limited to 140 characters. Twitter started out as a network for users to stay in touch with a bunch of their friends. Since it grew a lot bigger than that, Twitter went from a mostly cell based application to an internet focus service.

The rise of twitter went hand in hand with the increase in smart phone units sold, since it made accessing Twitter so much easier and opened the service up to everyone worldwide. The other aspect is the fact that a lot of celebrities provide their fans with frequent updates about their thoughts via this service.

So how does Twitter Marketing work?

Like in all marketing processes the first thing you have to do is research. Finding out whether the “stars” in your industry have a twitter account is one of the most important steps I can think of.

After the research part you start to follow the people that are following the people you made out as being in the same niche. Some of the people that you follow will follow you back, and some won’t. The once that do follow you back will receive your tweets from now on. The cool think about that is that you already know that those people are interested in your products, since they followed someone promoting something very similar already. This way the prospects aren’t cold, but warm.

Selling to this list shouldn’t be that hard anymore. After all you know that they are interested in your niche. And since this process is pretty easy and not very time consuming, it is easy to build a big list of followers.

Choosing The Best Keywords For Driving Traffic

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Ok, you’ve got the best article/video/podcast etc ever seen in your niche so money’s just going to come pouring in, right? Wrong! What good is having great content if that great content isn’t found?

I’ll give you an example to try yourself. Do a search for your niche. Skip ahead to somewhere between page ten and twenty and open a few pages. You might be surprised to find the content in a lot of the pages is as good if not better than the sites that come up top in your search.

The reason for this is simple; the site hasn’t been marketed properly! Without getting too technical, search engine optimization is creating content which is likely to show up high in a Google search. Remember 80% of a site’s traffic is usually from a search engine! Search engine optimization in the form of choosing the best keywords to target is a vital part of weather you’re going to get traffic and succeed online.

The good news is it’s quite easy to find the best keywords to help you get high search results! Google Adwords Keyword Tool is a free to use tool that gives you results of searches made in google in the last month. You type in the word or term that you’d like to create content about (something from your niche). Next hit search and see what results google gives back. For example type in bodybuilding and you might get back bodybuilding routine. These are actually real searches made in google and the search statistics to go with them. This information is extremely helpful in choosing the right keyword!

Next you have to choose the best keywords to use from the suggestions you are given. I like to pick keywords within the 8,000 and 30,000 global monthly search volume. Within this range you know there are a lot of searches being made for the term but the competition may not be as high as for the terms with very high search volumes. Check out my other articles on how to use these keywords.

If you want to get thousands of visitors who wish to indulge in your content, subscribe to your offers or even purchase your products, then your main objective is to get free website traffic. Getting this type of traffic is desirable for the reason that it provides you with ample opportunities to make money. Additionally it offers you a means to develop your rating online. This rating includes your visibility and your potential to get visitors and determine a reputable position online.

However, getting free website traffic is not totally free. You would need to shell out some time and effort in order to create income-generating traffic for your website or blog; to do this, you would need the right tools and strategies to employ. Here are a few social media tools and strategies that you may want to utilize to get the free traffic that you need:

Blog Affiliates Most bloggers didn’t successfully emerge in the top lists alone. They often have affiliate bloggers and a group of people who have increased their popularity. So if you want to be a blogger and your goal is to get more visitors to your website, you can begin by working on your group of visitors and readers by doing the same for others. As you converse with and mingle with the users in the blogospere, you will get many backlinks to your site. This helps SEO and also brings direct traffic.

Microblogging Microblogging is a derivative of blogging. Top microblogging sites that you can look at are Tumblr and Twitter. These sites give you an easy mode of sharing links to your site or blog seeing this social media tool is generally smaller in size and the messages shared are also normally short and basic.

Writing Articles To Make Extra Money Online Articles

Monday, September 6th, 2010

If you don’t like making videos, podcasts etc. Maybe you should try article marketing to make extra money online? Just so you know if you don’t want to create videos etc.; you can try other things like outsourcing; I’ll talk about them in another article.

Just like video content article marketing when done effectively can earn you money long after the article has been submitted. But before you can expect this you need to write articles that people want to read and just as importantly; that people will find. The following are some helpful pointers to do just that!

1. Choose the right keyword for your article, this ensures you’ll be found in searches (check out my article on keyword research for help doing this).

2. Next put this keyword in the title and three times throughout the article (it is usually best to have the keyword in the first paragraph aswell).

3. Write articles that are read! As obvious as that sounds a lot of people don’t do this. On the internet people don’t read every word they scan whole paragraphs. Studies have shown that; if a user isn’t interested in what they are looking at after eight seconds they move onto another page. You have eight seconds to grab their attention!

4. Keep sentences short and sharp, this helps keep the reader’s attention. It’ll also stop readers from clicking any links and leaving the page.

5. Have sentences that flow onto each other so the reader will feel the need to keep reading. Ideally if the sentences are easy and fast to read the user will not mind taking the time to read your article.

6. Break into paragraphs and or points (seven points generally works well online; hence you’ll see seven points here!).

7. Put your articles on the top article sites and also your blog. The tops sites include; Ezinearticles, Searchwarp and Articlebase. You may also find article sites specific to your niche that you should submit to.

If you keep all these steps in mind you’re sure to see the benefits of article marketing as a way to make extra money online.

How To Make Money Online – Overcoming Barriers

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Over the last few days I’ve been asked the same question and to be honest I knew people would ask me it. That question is; where do you start when figuring out how to make money online?

The best answer I can come up with is; do something! Choose one thing to work on and keep at it until you have made it a success and then you can move onto something else. You could if you wish; outsource what you’ve just mastered so you can put all your energy into what you’re working on now. So for example you might start on article marketing, and then you master it, outsource it and then maybe move onto video marketing.

Other than getting an opt in page up and running this would be my first step in how to make money online. You might think; ok, that sounds easy and really it is but will you do it? What I find a lot is people just don’t make themselves take the first step in starting a business online so how can they possibly succeed? There are lots of reasons for people not taking the plunge; fear, doubt and lack of knowledge have been some of the terrible excuses I’ve heard. I say terrible excuses because what I really hear from these excuses is; “I’m sabotaging my chances of making money online just because I’m afraid to try”. The online business is easy; there is no excuse for anyone not making it work for them! Another thing I commonly see is people instead of focusing on one thing try to take on about ten different things and end up getting none right. If you’re like this at least you have the enthusiasm and are not afraid to make it happen, but you need to focus.

So, let me look at some of the common barriers:

1. Fear; what’s so scary? Being made a fool of? Online people aren’t watching your every move! Really I wish they were but to get noticed you need to stand out and get in front of people’s faces. If you slip up online the whole world isn’t going to know! Then you got ridicule from friends; if they’re true friends they’ll support you and anyway it’s just friendly banter; they’ll have moved onto someone else in a day or two.

2. Doubt in ability, this one makes me laugh, because you learn best by doing and online I think this is especially the case. So take on the Nike mantra and “just do it”.

3. Lack of knowledge, well there’s an easy fix for that and that’s to learn more and as I said in the last point learn by doing so get going!

So I hope I’ve help you overcome your stumbling block if you are stuck on one and wondering how to make money online! Just go and do something. And remember I’m here to help.

Putting Together The Best Opt In Page To Grow Your Opt List

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

If you have an online business without an opt in page you are probably missing out on a lot of cash. To build an opt list, and increase your business, you should have a quick and easy way for people to leave their details. This is the goal of the opt in page; turn visitors into subscribers.

First and foremost; definitions: a squeeze page, landing page, lead capture or opt in page is named as such because its primary goal is to squeeze the name and email.

So let me tell you the secrets of creating top class opt in pages that can capture leads from thousands or even millions of subscribers? Getting people to your opt in page or website or blog is one thing but convincing them to submit their details to grow your opt list is another. Your opt in page is only as good as the amount of visitors it turns into subscribers.

1. Opt in pages are very basic to design but if you’d prefer a web designer will do one cheap.

2. Find the opt in pages of some of the top marketers in your niche and get ideas from them, put together a swipe file, where you save copies of opt in pages you like and edit them to your liking.

3. Don’t put any outbound links in your opt in page: links give the user a reason to leave the page. Tests have shown that every link halves your traffic; don’t give your visitors a reason to leave.

4. Of course as with just about anything you do online, you will have to test and tweak your opt in page so that you can get the best conversion rates possible. I recommend testing using Google web optimizer. This allows you to run multiple pages under the same domain name and traffic is divided equally between them, so you can test which page is most effective.

5. Many believe giving away something free (an ethical bribe) can be an effective way of encouraging subscription.

6. Some find adding video to be a good way of improving subscription, test and see if it helps for you.

7. As with everything online test and see what comes out most effective for you in growing your opt list.

Once you have your opt in page online you’ll need to test it by sending traffic to it, here’s another excellent article by Neil Russell; The Net Cash King to show you how to do just that for free: Free Website Traffic

Make Money Online Selling – Make Your Sell An Expert

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Simple! Make money online selling, the system’s been proven! Build a list and send out useful information as a newsletter to your list. Why not copy the system?

By giving out information like this; your followers will being to value your opinions and recommendations, this way you strengthen your relationship. You should try and establish yourself as an expert or guru. If people see you this way they will be a lot more likely to value your opinion and purchase the products you recommend.

Let me give you an example; John and Mary are both selling the same product to do with growing your twitter following. John sends out a newsletter to his list saying buy this product. Mary on the other hand sends out a newsletter detailing the benefits of article marketing to make money online selling and then recommends an article marketing product that she finds very useful. It’s pretty obvious Mary is going to make more sales than John. Mary has given some useful information to her subscribers and has built their trust; people are more likely to value her recommendations than John’s who is just all out selling.

Business online and off are pretty much the same in this sense, you build a relationship with your customers and they will have little difficulty buying from you because when you, a figure of authority recommend a product, they trust this product is going to be good. That’s why it’s also good to put your photograph on your blog, social media or wherever you make money online selling. Try and keep this picture the same everywhere so people learn to recognise you and so your relationship is strengthened with them.

Another benefit to this relationship building is that people are more likely to open your emails for the value they provide and are less likely to unsubscribe from your email list. Ideally people should look forward to your newsletter and what to read it for the valuable information it provides.
