Using Social Networking To Promote Your Books

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

If there is anything that is always at the top of an author’s mind once finished with their book it is how they are going to promote it. Today they have the option of using video, audio, articles and even social networking media like twitter and Facebook. A multi-prolonged approach is the best way that they can go about it no matter what method they choose.

The issue with the target audience is that they all have their own personal preferences as to how they like to get their material. Some of them like to sit down and read while others prefer to listen to audio tapes while they drive in their car. Others prefer to just make use of their social networks.

You need to meet them at the point that they are and not force them to conform to your methods.

Twitter is one of the most utilized social networks that you can use today to market your new books. Here are three pointers to help you along your way.

1. Advertise all of your book signings well in advance – Just with a simple tweet, you can let all of your fans or followers know that you have a treat coming up for them. Everybody loves a free autograph.

2. Give them tidbits about yourself – Fans always appreciate it when they get to somewhat know small things about the people they look up to. It will serve you well to tweet some little things about yourself so that they can know a bit about the mastermind of their favorite book.

3. Make micro-blogs – Try to give your fans as much as you can about anything you will be doing or pursuing in tiny blogs (140 characters).

That is how much twitter can do for you. You can make a connection with somebody who loves your book across the oceans. You can build up so much credibility for you and your book just by using this powerful social networking tool.

Using Social Networking In Your Business

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Since there is so much interest in social networking, I thought I would share some information with you. Below is a great list of ideas to promote your business using social networking:

Limit yourself to 3 choices

How many social networking sites are out there?

There are too many, in fact, we have lost count of them because there are so many.

While you are free to join as many as you want, you may really want to limit your options to the top 3 in order to get the most effective use of your time and energy. While this rule may be reconsidered if your goal is to drive as much traffic as possible to your landing page, or search for niche specific customers, we recommend the following three networking sites to appeal to all businesses and professions:

1. Digg

2. Facebook

3. Digg.

Make us of their applications or plug-ins

Most Social networking sites come with exclusive plug-ins and applications. You need to take advantage of these and utilize them for your own professional and personal purposes.

For example: Facebok allows you to integrate with twitter into your profile. This is very advantageous to you because there could be people on your facebook that are not subscribed to Twitter and they can see your short message without you having to post the same message twice. Digg also allows you to immediately upload and share stories by adding one button to your blog, another time saving tool that can increase the overall value of a single effort.

Be very friendly

This includes one forgotten rule of salesmanship, be human. Make sure that you are sensitive to people’s feelings, give them a chance to interact with you by asking them about their posts or answering a question of theirs even if they are not related to your particular business.

Don’t be stiff or business like and avoid coming out like a salesman. Most of all, do not spend all of your time just promoting yourself or products or your followers can become bored with you. I cannot emphasize this enough! Most people want interaction and information. While they may not be seeking the products or services you provide, they will learn that you are a person to be respected and when they are finally seeking your product, they will find you are the expert they are searching for.

Consider your landing pages

We’ve talked about Landing Pages for quite a while and I still consider them to be one of your best tools on social networking websites. When you’re simply using Facebook or Twitter for the sole purpose of meeting and making friends, while that is still very important, you’re defeating the purpose of building a social networking campaign. The ultimate goal is conversion and having a well designed landing page for your web-presence is like having a skilled receptionist in your office. It will take care of your customers wants and needs, even when you’re not available to help them directly.

You have to make sure that first your landing page is working effectively and is able to communicate clearly and efficiently. Think about it in terms of having that secretary or receptionist I mentioned earlier. Would you hire a receptionist who was rude, un-attentive or incapable of answering the questions posed by your customers? Would you employ an auto-mechanic to answer technical support calls for a computer software and information technology company? No. Then why would you permit this kind of behavior from your landing page?

Fortunately, Ad2Action.com offers an array of designs which you can conveniently modify to fit your needs, whatever your business profile may be. You can also keep track on your campaigns to determine which of your marketing effort are providing the bulk of your traffic and utilize your time to focus on those areas.

Think about your business profile

Upload a picture! It doesn’t have to be a picture of your smiling face if that doesn’t appeal to you but it should be a picture which represents you and your personality or your niche or business, such as your company logo.

Some people will use pictures of their children while others will use their pets. That is a great idea. It shows that you are human and might provide of opportunity with others that have similar interests. If you upload a picture of your dalmatian, you could possible find people that have barely spoken to you in the past and are now offering a new relationship because it just so happens that they have a dalmatian also.

Let your bio, user name, posts, and any other interest groups you select be a reflection of who you are as well as your business. Make a clear distinction between your personal and professional information, and be certain before you post a personal comment that it will not reflect badly on your business.

Accept all opportunities you come across to direct your followers to your landing page, without overwhelming them.

Utilize all aspects of social marketing by directing your traffic to your landing page. Before creating your landing page, check out Ad2Action.com

Using Twitter For Real Estate Marketing

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Before I started playing with the new Twitter technology I had my doubts about its usefulness. I have had access to my twitter account and have periodically used it to publicize the RedX Real Estate Lead generation system. Because of this, I am just learning to implement the technology. However, now that I understand technology, I can appreciate how REALTORS online should be utilizing this tool to attract leads.

So how do you use Twitter in a promotion campaign? Before we begin you need to understand that Twitter is only a single point of contact for your prospects and that numerous touches are usually desired to convert a lead into a client. Also, understand that Twitter etiquette is that when you follow a person’s tweets, they may in turn monitor you.

With that background, what are the steps? The principal step is to connect your twitter account to any web site where you have an online presence. If you have a site, blog or web presence, add a “Follow me” or Twitter logo with a hyperlink to your twitter site.

To begin utilizing Twitter as a promotion resource, create an auto-responder on your twitter account so that when anybody chooses to follow you, they will automatically receive a thank you response with a call to action. I use TweetLater.Com for my auto-responders. The message should thank the user for following, and incorporate a call to action. Your may choose to make your call to action an offer for a complimentary report, data, or some other offer that allows you to capture more information about your target lead. For example, my call to action is “Thanks for the Follow! Want a discount on listing leads from RedX? Visit me here for more info.”

The next step is to begin tweeting. You should routinely tweet, but additionally be aware that there is a shortcut that you may exploit when you cannot don’t have time to make a post. If you control a blog that you keep posted often, you may post the feed directly to your twitter account using TwitterFeed.

The subsequent step in your twitter promotion should be to attract local followers. You can find followers who reside in your area simply by doing a keyword search on the twitter user directory Twellow. Just search the twellow list for active tweeters that live in your area and follow those that fit the bill.

There are a number of other ways that you can incorporate twitter as part of your promotion, together with mobile messaging and even film. We won’t get into those details here, but may address them later.

Social Media And Mobile Marketing

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Simply put, one of the most important technological developments in recent years has been the advent of social networking. Allowing users to connect and interact with friends, relatives or just generally people of similar interest and hobbies, social networking platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace have become very popular in a short space of time. As mobile devices are now capable of running social networking applications, the opportunities for advertisers are exciting.

Social networks have their roots in the basic online communities that existed over a decade ago. While rudimentary compared to the services offered today, these communities allowed users to interact with other users by linking in their email addresses for the exchange of information. These communities were quickly replaced however by the first social networking services that offered a far wider array of functions and the ability to create personalised accounts with which users can interact. It was these personalised accounts that allowed advertisers the first opportunities to target specific markets based upon a users interests. Since these first steps, social network services have rapidly developed to the point where they can now be accessed remotely on a mobile phone.

The injection of mobile technology into social networking is where it becomes really exciting for advertisers though. Recently, Red Bull used the location-based social networking service Whrrl to create the Red Bull Society as part of its promotion for the New York Air Race. Individuals who joined up to the society were able to access ticket information, drink specials or other exclusive content through their mobile phones. The notable feature about the Red Bull campaign was that the content reflected a members physical location keeping them up to date with any local developments or offers they may benefit from.

With social networking heavyweights starting to show interest in location based services, the use of social networking as a marketing tool will continue to be refined.

Facebook in particular has signalled that it will work with services that already utilise location data so that it can create a more immersive and responsive social networking experience. This will allow for tailored marketing campaigns that take account of the places a user most frequently visits thus intuitively reflecting their preferences. Coupled with the scope and reach of social networking giants like Facebook, this presents an exciting opportunity for businesses to advertise to establish sophisticated and effective marketing campaigns.

The Real Estate Industry And Social Media

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Many real estate investors don’t understand social media, or how it can help them.

Social media is like “word of mouth” on steroids. It helps build relationships between the consumer and the product or service. In the case of the real estate investor, these consumers can be prospective tenants, buyers or sellers. Social media is not selling, it’s not SPAMMING, and it’s gaining the trust and respect that you need to keep clients coming back. Social media is a two-way conversation. Social media helps your clients find you in many ways.

Social media uses avenues like Facebook, Twitter, blogs and videos to post information and get feedback or questions from prospective or current clients.

In other words, if you are able to place content on the internet and viewers can respond to you, then you are using social media.

Social media can be understood by first viewing how consumers used to do business. I call this “What is old is new again.” Back in the 60’s, dad took you to Bob’s Dealership to purchase your first car. You might have asked, “Why do we have to go to Bob’s? Why can’t we go to Fred’s?” The answer was usually, “Because I bought my car there and grandpa did, too, so you can’t go wrong with Bob.” The trust was established; therefore you went to Bob’s dealership and not Fred’s. More than likely dear old dad played poker with Bob and participated in the same community events.
How does that relate today?

How does the above scenario relate to today’s consumer culture? Today, that same relationship, word of mouth, and trust is built over the internet. Consumers are more connected to the technological world today more than ever. Many phones now even have social media integration. By utilizing social media marketing you can effectively target this audience 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Now, why should you care about social media? No matter the industry, you have to compete online for your consumer. Social media gives you the opportunity to build a relationship with either an existing client or a prospect. As the relationship builds, the trust is earned; therefore you will be the one they decide to conduct business with when the time comes.

Social media can provide your business with many tools:
* Building your reputation
* Getting more website views and phone calls
* Reputation management
* Customer service

Real estate investors are taking advantage of social media in a variety of ways. One way is through the publication of a blog. A blog is an online journal where people can post journal entries and allow readers to provide feedback on the content. Some jokingly say that BLOG is an acronym for “Better Listings On Google.” Blogs are used by real estate agents to build credibility. Generation X and Y members provide a great market for first time homeowners or renters. They seek out blogs for information and feel more at ease placing a question on a blog rather than dialing the phone to ask. They view this as using time wisely.

By publishing a blog, you will get noticed on Google and other search engines. Frequent updates inform search engines that the site is authoritative and informational, resulting in higher search-engine rankings. Using popular search keywords in a blog post can also strengthen your results.

An example of how a real estate investor is using their blog to increase traffic is giving tips on what to look for when purchasing or selling a home. Real estate investor, Colman Grant out of Colorado, posted key points on how to protect yourself when hiring contractors to renovate your home. He is viewed as an expert since he does this quite often. From this post, he gained an interested investor.

Join the many realtors who have incorporated Facebook as a great referral system. One way of doing this is connecting with classmates from high school and/or college. Your past friends learn that you are in the real estate business and begin to use you as their trusted agent and the word spreads that you are the best source.

An example of a realtor using Facebook would be Amy Hale of Seattle, Washington. She used this method and gained three clients in one day. She had connected with her classmates from SUT (Texas) and Flour Bluff High School. While connecting with old friends, she had posted an open house on her status and one of her high school friends had happened to move to a town near the open house. Her friend didn’t buy that house but wanted her to sell her house. She did a great job and Amy ended up finding a house for her friend’s sister and best friend. This is an example of many.

Remember, there are many strategies at your disposal. Just find the one that fits your audience. Your strategy may need to evolve and change over a period of time as various industries learn to adapt their methods of communication.

Social media allows you and the consumer to communicate in an open and safe atmosphere that establishes a relationship that will last through the good and the bad.

5 Ways To Generate More Traffic Than Grand Central Station

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Your website ‘door’ is wide open and nobody’s walking in. Here are 5 ways to generate more traffic.

A few years ago I was in Grand Central Station and was literally overwhelmed. I have a few crowd issues that I won’t discuss at this time. Suffice it to say that as we walked into the lobby I saw people everywhere. Some sitting. Some standing. People moving in every direction. Everyone was on their own mission with their own purpose. People moved with haste. No dawdling, except for those who were planning to stay all day.

Wouldn’t it be nice if your website generated traffic like that? That would be ‘grand’. Getting traffic from multiple directions with a specific purpose and mission. Traffic that sought you and found you so they could garner some key information from you to help them perform a task or reach a goal.

It’s possible. And it can be done for F*R*E*E.

The traffic sources are only limited by where and how you choose to market yourself and/or your products.

I’m sure you’ve read about marketing yourself on Social Sites, like:

1. Facebook – Behind Google, facebook is the #2 trafficked site. Everyday people are joining by the thousands. If you’re going to conduct business, you should create a fan or business page. They don’t like people using their personal page to conduct business. If you join groups you can talk to like-minded individuals or at least those who have similar interests.

2. LinkedIn – This is a site for professionals. This is not the place for witty status comments and family pictures. The people here are about business and professional matters. If you respect that you can use it to your advantage. With the median income of LinkedIn users being ~$109,000 and about 40% of the members being business owners, this is indeed fertile territory.

3. Youtube – Video marketing is huge. Youtube is another top 3 trafficked site. Whatever can be said with words can be said even better and more readily with a video. People like videos. If you check out youtube you’ll see that the quality of the video is really irrelevant. The content is what matters. Virtually everything you’re looking for can be found on youtube. Why not include your business in the line-up?

4. Twitter – You can update your followers all day long with your tweets. This site currently holds the #5 ranking for amount of traffic. Because it processes millions of tweets daily, it’s a great place for marketing.

5. Article writing – This is one of my favorite. Virtually any topic can be covered. You can then publish the articles on free article sites, LinkedIn, and/or your blog. Article marketing is great because the written word is eternal. The content should be focused on adding value. Answer the questions that meet people’s needs. Be concise. Don’t succumb to the desire to market your business within the article body. Let the resource box be the place for that.

This is definitely not an exhaustive list as there are many other options, like myspace and free classified ads. In each of these above mentioned venues, you have the opportunity to tailor your profile to inform your visitors of who you are and what you do. You want to add a nice professional picture of yourself so people can put a face with your name.

All of this generated traffic is to be sent to your primary site. You want to be sure to update it regularly and make it inviting and easy to maneuver. Driving traffic to an outdated site is like marketing suicide.

How Twitter Contributes To Web Entrepreneurs To Generate Sales

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Hundreds of people from all over the world are joining twitter every day. The membership is growing by the hours and is one of the most popular social networking sites preferred by people for communication and interaction.

Membership to twitter is free and one does not have to pay any money for any of the services here. You can send tweets to anyone else in the network including your friends and family or those you make friends with on the network. In turn you can receive messages from friends and family and keep in touch instantly with everyone.

The network works like an exchange where once you have send a message in the network to others say your family and friends, they in turn respond to or broadcast messages to everyone else known and the chain keeps growing. This is how messages about the latest events happening around the world, or some gossip about celebrities spreads like wild fire in a matter of minutes across the world.

Twitter and other networking sites are great platforms for people to promote their products and services. By running sales campaigns on these sites, marketing companies draw a lot of traffic to their own websites.

You can run attractive advertisements, invite people for promotional sales campaigns, run sales customer contact program for niche customer segment etc and put up catchy captions so that visitors are tempted to click on the advertisement and check out your site.

Once people start visiting your website and you have a substantial viewer ship and traffic, then you would be able to further prompt them to click on the links to your affiliate websites and thereby generate revenues for yourself.

This way twitter can be used by Internet marketing companies to generate traffic to their own websites.

You may take a while to build momentum and generate sufficient traffic into your website through twitter, but then once you have stabilized, you will find a steady flow of visitors which can be converted into sales leads to grow your business.

Finding The True Value Of Twitter

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

For a long time I’ve been avoiding the Twitter phenomenon. That is, until recently. A fellow associate of mine encouraged me to join and even explored some of the reasons why I hadn’t done so. I simply told him that I didn’t understand the need to Tweet and the real purpose of using Twitter. With some convincing, I signed up for an account.

After learning how to use Twitter by opening an account, and then adopting the use of tools that would allow me to make more out of my Twitter experience, I’m finding a number of different aspects valuable to my everyday activities, hobbies, and social relationships.

With so many varied interests, its always been a real challenge for me to find like minded individuals who are in to so many of the same things that I am. Twitter has solved this problem for me. Not only can you find others who share similar interests or vocations, but you can follow posts made around a given subject area or topic. This is a good indication of what’s being discussed across millions of users. Not only do you have access to individuals sharing the same interests you have, but also celebrities. I never really thought that I would care to have access to what one celeb or another was doing, but it definitely makes people seem more approachable. I’ve also sent and received Tweets from celebrities, bringing into reality the fact that they’re human too.

When you find a community of individuals who share your interests, concerns, and are willing to have a discussion around them, it enriches your experience. This is especially true as I have built a small following of people within my area of interest. When I have a question or topic that needs discussion, this group is always willing to share what they know and comment on my messages, also called tweets. When users respond to one of my messages, pushing it out to their followers, it is called re-tweeting.

The greatest benefit of connecting with other with whom you chose is that you can filter the information and respond when the mood strikes. By using applications that allow you to prioritize Tweets or search for specific conversations, you can quickly see benefit in the information that’s being shared. Often times, individuals include links to valuable content and information that they have come across on the web. This is both useful and time consuming when related to a particular need you may have.

I resisted social media at first for a variety of reasons. Now that I have some experience with a tool like Twitter, I believe that I fully understand my initial hesitation. The reason why I didn’t use it initially was because I didn’t see the point. What I didn’t realize was that the only way to get the point of using Twitter was to first use it. Now that I have, I understand and appreciate the value it delivers.
