Use Videos To Promote Your Site

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Once your video is completed you will need to upload it to a site that hosts videos. There are a number of video hosting sites available to the public most of which will allow you to upload for free. Sites such as Metacafe, YouTube, Viddler and Dailymotion are just some of them. The most popular is without too much doubt YouTube but it would make sense for you to upload your videos to as many sites as you can.

My main focus for this article will be on YouTube but most of the other sites operate in a similar fashion.

When you first set up your YouTube Channel, as you must if you wish to upload videos, you should look to fully use the account to promote your site. You should let your audience know who you are and what website you are promoting by using the information boxes on your account. Tell people who you are what your life is like and why they might be interested in anything you have to say. Do not oversell your business in this area, the idea is for the viewer to find out more about you, like your videos and then be curious enough to go to your website where you can entice them into joining your list.

When setting up your channel user name it is important that you use a name that gets people wondering what you are about. If you just use your own name it is not really going to grab the attention of anyone, so use an interesting one for example milliondollarguru or makemoneytonight. The idea is for you to be noticed more.

You will have to select the type of channel and the category in which you wish to place your videos. Select Guru as your channel type, people assume that this status has to be earned so it will give you can edge right from the start, and I would suggest education as the type, after all I am assuming that you wish to educate your viewers. If these do not sit right with your own reasons for Video Marketing then choose what is appropriate for you. Do not forget to brand the channel background and colour scheme to your own brand if you have one.

When you are ready with the channel set up it is time to upload your videos. I would suggest that you try to upload a couple on the first day if you can and then make sure that you are regularly adding videos. I would look to do at least two per week until you have a decent amount on the channel and then add them as you want. This will make sure that the content is fresh and that any subscribers that you get receive regular notifications of new videos.

Once you have your channel set up and your first videos uploaded you should switch your focus to marketing your channel. You cannot expect people to visit your channel and view your videos with out you letting them know that you are there. You should look to subscribe to about ten channels, similar to yours, every day, leaving a positive comment on their channel. A good proportion of these will return the favour to you. Also visitors to their channel may well look at the channel comments and be curious as to who left the comment and visit your channel too.

Once you have subscribed you can look at their videos and leave a comment on them. Each time you leave a comment you also leave a link back to your channel. People viewing these channels are generally interested in your niche and so may well take a look at what you are doing. If they like your content they will look to find out more about you and this will eventually lead them to your website and opt in list.

You should always be positive and never negative when you make a comment. It is not very much fun when someone goes to your channel and is spiteful simply because you have said something bad about theirs. Even if it is a lousy channel be tactful for your own sake.

Apply these few tips to your Video Marketing campaign and you will see the number of channel and video views steadily increase. This can only increase the flow of traffic to your website and increase your value in the eyes of your subscribers.

A Great Video Needs Planning

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Video Marketing is possibly the best way to promote yourself and your business online. You need to think about a few things before you start.

It is one of the most basic things to master but you should make sure that you know your recording equipment and how to use it properly. You would be surprised at the number of stories I have heard where people have spend hours filming only to discover that there is no picture. After hours more of trying to figure out why the thing will not play properly they find out that they have left on the lens cap.

When you make your video it should always be in a suitable location. Make sure that the area to be seen by the camera is clean and tidy. You should make sure that there will be no disturbances whilst you are filming and that there are no outside influences to annoy you like someone cutting the grass or roadworks outside your window. If you are filming a talking head shot make sure that the camera is positioned correctly and that the shot is the correct height etc.

Make yourself a short test film. Check the film to make sure that the camera position is good, that there is nothing distracting in the back ground and probably most important the volume of the sound. There is little point if you make a video that looks great if no body ca hear you.

You need to make sure that there is enough light and that it is not shining at the camera. If you are filming in the open air you should ensure that the sun is kept at the back of the camera. If you are filming indoors there needs to be enough light shining on the recording area but make sure that there are no light in the shot as these will disrupt the final video. You can use the practice video for checking this.

Try to make your videos quite short. People do not very often have a lot of time and will often choose to view 2 or 3 short videos rather than 1 longer one. Less than 2 minutes is great, over 5 minutes should be saved for the people who want to watch it when you have a following.

Make sure that you get to the significant part of your message as soon as you can. If people do not find the beginning of you video interesting they will probably move on. So make sure that the videos deliver value to the viewer.

It can be quite a good idea to make a few videos at the same time. If you do this I would suggest that you change something about each one so that they do not all look the same. You should change the angle of the shot slightly or change the location, a simple change of shirt could be enough.

Upload these videos at intervals and not all at the same time on the same day. It always gets more attention if the videos are release at different times. If all the videos look the same from the screen shot, as they will unless you follow my advice, and all appear at the same time, they can often be overlooked and less effective.

These things are all important to getting the best possible videos made. The message that you are trying to get across is obviously the most vital thing but if you cannot be seen or heard the message will be lost and you will be wasting your time.

Video Marketing – Does It Really Work?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

One of the most profitable ways that you can promote your Internet Business is without doubt Video Marketing. It is easy to see why when you look at the figure for the most popular of the video hosting sites YouTube.

Of the estimated 1.5 billion internet users around the world about 275 million of them use YouTube. According to Alexa it is now ranked as the third most popular internet site in the world with over 2 billion videos viewed daily. This still only accounts for less than 50% of the total video market.

It is fairly simple to see why this type of media is becoming such a popular way to promote an On-line business and remember it is free to use.

When an Internet Marketer makes a new video they are trying to show the viewer not only the product they make be selling but the smart ones are also showing themselves to be at the cutting edge of Internet marketing.

It gives you the perfect showcase to promote yourself as a leader in your business and show people who are looking to work with someone why they should join with you. You might think that this is all well and good for the TV stars amongst us but what about those of us to whom the camera is not so friendly?

Well there are two trains of thought here. One might say that these particular people should only stick to the generic videos some companies make available but I say that is just not right.

These videos are being viewed all around the work by all sorts of people from every walk of life. There is no doubt that people relate to other people of all types otherwise there would be an awful lot of us who would stay single. Am I right? So, if you are not the perfect specimen for TV, don’t worry, just make your video and the will be people will want to watch it.

So what do you do if you are not comfortable in from of a camera? The option here is to produce a slide show or a power point presentation and just add your voice over. If you look at most personal videos by internet marketers they are not really doing anything other than stand there and give you a voiced monologue anyway so in a lot of cases the slide show would be an improvement.

The bottom line is that whatever your situation, you should just get a video of any kind made and then get it onto the internet.

Make sure that you post it on your blog or any other sites that you could use like MySpace and Facebook. Make sure that there is a link to you site from the video so that all your marketing is working together.

Making video and using video marketing becomes more familiar the more you do it and like anything else that you use can greatly increase your presence on the net.

It is important to remember that videos are just one tool in the Internet Marketers arsenal and you must use a variety of methods to get the best results.
