Preparing For Your Corporate Video

Friday, May 30th, 2014

The production of a corporate video requires a great deal of planning and pre production if it’s to be a smooth and effective process. There are multiple messages and visions in play, not least the contrast between the videographer and the corporate client. In order to ensure your corporate video production goes off without a hitch, take a look at these simple steps to really nail down the creative direction of the production early on.

When researching ways to make this pre-production process smoother and more efficient for the future, I narrowed the steps down these few, including scripting, storyboarding, and a treatment to ensure the final intentions of the project are clear.

Scripting and storyboarding are essential in the pre-production of a project, they ensure that there is a vision and plan for when it comes to the filming. They both tackle vital features of the filming process. Scripting is important to make sure that all the necessary content is included, whether this is a solid formed script leaving no room of improvisation or bullet pointed topics of conversation. Scripting is not only used for speech but can also be used for movement, to convey a particular message through the body language of the actor or actress.

Scripting and storyboarding are fairly similar, one dealing with the people/person being filmed and the other dealing with those behind the camera, shooting the action. Storyboarding allows for a visual for the different shots that will used throughout filming, so that everyone included has a clear idea of what the final product will look like shot by shot, and also so that shooting on the day runs smoothly.

Finally, a treatment is designed to enshrine the core values of the finished product so that no matter how much extra footage is captured, the editor can pick and choose content that bests reflects the original treatment, ensuring the client receives a project in line with their original intentions.

Pre-production is vital or the coordination of what is going to be filmed and includes many stages that cannot to ignored (as I learnt). It effects the whole filming process and makes your life easier in the long run, with efficiency and ease when it comes to shooting. If you apply these techniques to your own videos, let me know how you get on in the comments below!

The Pros And Cons Of Youtube

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

The online world is built with many platforms to share content on. From the favourite social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and then of course there’s the platforms with more scope to produce creative content, such as Vimeo, Vine and YouTube. Of these three, YouTube is the one that the masses are more likely to be familiar with. Some of you might be wondering right now what this has to do with marketing, YouTube has a reputation for endless amounts of amateur content, but can it not be a valuable marketing tool as well?

In other posts you might have read you’ll have seen I’ve talked about the benefits of viral videos and how bigger conglomerates are using them to market their own products. What we’re prone to forget is that in order for these videos to be a success, they need a popular video platform. Hello YouTube. The benefits of YouTube are endless, though you might not know it, there’s more to it than just being free and simple… which in itself is pretty smashing, all things considered.

YouTube focuses largely on how your video content is viewed on other online platforms. When you upload a video, you have the option to share it in at least ten different forms. The most common of these would be Facebook, Twitter, Google+… but then there’s others: Bebo, Tumblr, Reddit, Pinterest and Odnoklassniki (which, going off my five Russian lessons, is Russian – but that’s as much light as I can shed) are all on the extensive list. The analytical features on YouTube are incredibly clear and beneficial as well as allowing you to see whether you are targeting the right demographic. It is carefully assessed by age, gender, location as well as other means of analysis and is formatted in nice graphs so you can see where and who your video reaching – and be very smug when Madagascar is highlighted on the map feature, as unlikely as that is.

You might not know it, but Google has suspiciously close ties with YouTube… as a result YouTube often ranks highly in Google web results. I recently found out that YouTube is also the second largest search engine, so when you’re wandering in and out of web domains searching for the benefits of YouTube, like me, you might stumble across this video blog from Lambda Films, a Norwich online production company. It lists a few useful pros and cons when it comes to YouTube.

The video details how a ‘well optimised’ YouTube vid might appear above the web results in the Google ranks. This happens when Google selects it as quality content that contends with the other web results. In order for this to occur your video has to be well optimised though, and fortunately YouTube has a feature to tag the video with relevant subjects, so get tagging.

Although it’s free, it does not in any way suggest YouTube is unprofessional. Actually, it has the potential to really give your business a leg up… so I’d advise using YouTube to any online marketer.

How to Select Top Notch Video Production Services

Monday, January 30th, 2012

If five years ago you could have counted the number of corporate video production services on the web on the finger of your one hand, nowadays the competition has become nightmarish. A big reason why this is the case is that technology has evolved to the point when almost anyone who owns a PC can offer video production services.

Another big factor why the video is such a big item these days is that the customer or the web surfer is always on the lookout for the best website he can find. And nothing screams quality more than a carefully placed video on your website.

More and more people who are into selling realize how important are the video sales letters compared to the outdated sales letters that can bore today’s customers.

Although it doesn’t seem like it, online video marketing is a big deal already, and many marketers start opening their own video production services or for those who afford it look for a great company to do the work for them.

So let’s try to learn to choose video production companies. Note that an expensive company doesn’t necessarily imply that it is the greatest option.

Many times, the small companies may offer you a better care, because they also want to satisfy all your needs to get better known and probably make a hit contract with you.

Always choose the company that besides putting together the video also has the ability of creating scripts. What is a script? It’s basically the skeleton of your video.

Another thing that the company you choose should accomplish is to have a great set of tools to being able to make high quality videos. So be assured you verify this before hiring anyone.

Another aspect you have to be careful of when choosing a company, is to make sure they at least have professional tools to being able to make high quality videos and not just rubbish.

Promotional Video Production for Beginners

Monday, January 30th, 2012

If we’re feeling confused or insecure about something, we should always take a look at the statistics in order to find out the next logical step. If you’re a marketer and you’re looking for the best way through which you can rank on Google, have you ever considered using a promotional video production?

What the statistics show us is very interesting: more than 50 percent of searches that were performed on Google a couple of years ago were looking for a video. That should be enough for you to seriously consider implementing a sales video in your webpage and capitalizing on its huge potential.

If you still want numbers and not opinions, it is very well known that the big difference between a site that uses a sales video and another one that uses text is their higher conversion rate. In many cases, the conversion rate for site A that uses a promotional video production and markets the same product as site B, which in turn uses a text sales copy, is 7 times higher.

But, even if you decide using a promotional video, what do you put in it? While it’s rather obvious, to make a video you will need graphics, sound and, the most important thing of them all, content.

It’s advisable that you use a human voice to do the narration, once your written sales copy is finished. A human voice will trigger emotions from the visitor and this can lead to a purchase, especially if you pushed on the right buttons. Make your promotional video as short as possible. It’s recommended that it should have at least 2-3 minutes and never exceed the 4 minute mark. The first thing someone checks is how long the video is, remember that. And the sight of a long video might lead to indifference his or her part.

After you finished writing your sales copy (which you should have about 300 words for a 3 minute video) together with the call-to-action, make sure it is proof-read. Record your voice over it and you’re pretty much done. A message that is simple and well expressed will make the visitor relate to it so remember to be as straightforward as possible.

Remember that your promotional video production is not meant to necessarily explain everything about your business. Whether on your website or on YouTube, you need to leave out enough information to lure your audience to come inquire about more. Being vague is alright, make sure that you don’t reveal too much at once, nor should you try to.

Video Sales Letters and Affiliate Production

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

Did you know that a video sales letter is the number one way to communicate with consumers?

Debatable?

Hardly…. According to statistics, Video sales letters have more authority in the public’s eye than text ever could. No matter how solid your sales copy maybe is, a video explaining the very same points puts your sales copy attempts to shame.

Why?

A Squeeze Video is the reincarnation of the personal sales man approach, and you could not get even better results if you had people walking around knocking on people’s doors promoting your product.

This is because the people viewing your video have already shown an interest in buying your product, what they need next is the right amount of incentive to buy, presented in a way that is psychologically effective.

But it’s not enough to just have a video, like anything else; it needs to be done correctly.

While many people turn to YouTube to promote their services, what you really need to do is host your video right on your website, as the first thing that people see when they find your services.

There are many different people creating videos, either for themselves or others, but what im talking about is professional Video sales letter production that brings together copy-writing, animation and a slick voice-over to create something that looks and sounds like any commercial that you would see on T.V.

What you end up with is a visual representation of a thought process, facilitating a realization that you product really is all you claim.

So what makes a good Video sales letter?

Well, first off is the script.

This is just like any other sales copy, maybe a little more simplified. This is the heart of your video, and it is crucial that you get it right. So what do you look for?

-Short and sweet
-Clear and easy to understand by those limited by limited understanding of the language
-Under 3 minutes

These 3 points are proven to be the foundation of any good Sales Video letter. While your sales copy might be a little more in depth, you don’t necessarily have to pick between one or the other.

A Video sales letter is just the best way to get your foot in the door. It is a fact that a video will deliver your message more often than a sales copy can, and while some people might not read your entire sales copy, they will definitely watch the entire video, meaning that everything that you want to say will be said.

Let’s face it. A Video sales letter is everything that a sales copy isn’t and more, and unless you’re featuring one on all your websites, you are missing out on a good chunk of your leads.

Corporate videos are an invaluable promotional resource for companies or organisations wishing to promote their values or goals; advertise their products and services; inform stake holders and clients of changes within the company or train new employees. The possible uses for corporate videos are limited only by the organisations requirements. Organisations often stop short of hiring professionals to make their corporate videos because they think that they can do it in house. This is possible if they have the expertise, equipment and time; but most companies -unless they are production companies- do not have all of the above. Professional companies will offer their clients limitless possibilities for their corporate videos and it that way make it worth every cent they pay.

Corporate videos can accentuate the impact of the message succinctly by giving the outside world a glimpse into the working of the company and more importantly what it has to offer its clients. If this message is delivered positively and clearly to your customers and partners, the potential ripple effect can extend to your sales and other business interests. Professionally made corporate videos offer a delivery of vital/ newsworthy information in a format that is exciting, creative and entertaining for maximum impact. Video production companies can be asked to submit samples of their work so that you can make sure that the final product is what you are looking for. An in house production never has the guarantee of turning out as you envisioned it- in fact most of the time you will have to settle for something that is not necessarily awful but it certainly is not something that you would want to define you as an organisation.

A production company will sit with you to hear about the company, your vision for the finished product, what the promotional material will be used for and learn about the image you are wanting to project. This along with their creative team will give you a video that will be cost effective and end result that will be truly impressive.
